Looking Ahead #13
Not to pat myself on the back, but I’m very happy with the progress I’ve been making lately. I will be closing out February having completed at least 11 books this year, and that’s great. I’m looking to capitalize on inertia and keep this going, so I’m making a slight adjustment to my reading order.
Let’s jump in to the next look ahead where I’ll be updating you on the book I’m currently reading, and answering these questions about the next book on the list:
- Why did I buy this book?
- Why haven’t I read this book?
- How am I feeling about jumping in to this book?
Currently Reading: Dragon of Ash & Stars by H. Leighton Dickson.
My Progress: I have made it under the “100 pages remaining” mark, so I should be done with this fairly soon.
Up Next: The Last Colony (Old Man’s War Book 3) by John Scalzi, purchased on 2/12/2017.
Full disclosure: the next book should have been Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. But I’ve been making really good progress with books this year and non-fiction tends to slow me down. So I’ll circle back to this at some point.
Why I Purchased This Book: As you might imagine, as this is book three in a series, I’ve already read books one and two. I really enjoyed them, but for some reason there’s a three year gap between my reading of book two and my purchase of books 3-6.
Why I Haven’t Read This Book: It had been too long since I had read the previous book, and trying to catch myself up on the series seemed like it was going to take some digging, if not a reread of some books.
How Am I Feeling About Reading This Book: As long as I can bring myself back up to speed on books one and two, I’ll be happy. I do have a little hesitation about book four though, as my brother said it was just a retelling of an earlier story from a different point of view. But we’ll burn that bridge when we get to it.
