Looking Ahead #15

By Dan Cristelli

I’m starting to think that these Looking Ahead posts lose some of their effectiveness in the middle of a series. The “why haven’t I read this book” questions all get answered the same way: I can’t read book four before I’ve read book three and so on. But I suppose there’s a chance I’ll bail in the middle of a series, so it’s a good habit to have.

Let’s jump in to the next look ahead where I’ll be updating you on the book I’m currently reading, and answering these questions about the next book on the list:

  1. Why did I buy this book?
  2. Why haven’t I read this book?
  3. How am I feeling about jumping in to this book?

Currently Reading: Zoë’s Tale by John Scalzi.

My Progress: I’m at 80% complete, so this one should finish up in the next day or so.

Up Next: The Human Division by John Scalzi, purchased on 2/12/2017.

Why I Purchased This Book: I need to write a post talking about how sales alter spending habits. I see it in other aspects of my life (yes, I do need that board game that’s on sale), and it’s the same here.

Why I Haven’t Read This Book: Really? It’s book five.

How Am I Feeling About Reading This Book: Curious. The story of Old Man’s War has, until this point, focused on John Perry and his family. The Human Division takes a different approach, continuing the story from someone else’s point of view.
