Looking Ahead #3

By Dan Cristelli

The year is winding down, and I don’t think anyone will be particularly glum to see 2020 come to a close. In Vermont, winter also brings stupid cold weather, which makes staying inside with a book that much easier. Let’s jump in to the next look ahead where I’ll be updating you on the book I’m currently reading, and answering these questions about the next book on the list:

  1. Why did I buy this book?
  2. Why haven’t I read this book?
  3. How am I feeling about jumping in to this book?

Currently Reading: Crux by Ramez Naam

My Progress: I am currently 80% of the way through this book, and should finish within the next day or two. This was an interesting read for me as it’s book two in a trilogy that I started six or seven years ago. I was able to find a fairly decent summation of the first book online, which helped jog my memory.

Up Next: Apex by Ramez Naam, purchased on 9/28/2015. I’m skipping ahead a bit here to get to book three of the Nexus Trilogy so I can keep things fresh in my mind.

Why I Purchased This Book: I enjoyed the first book in the trilogy and already owned the second one. So when the third one went on sale? Well, I’m weak.

Why I Haven’t Read This Book: You can’t go around reading book three of a trilogy prior to reading book two, now can you? No. You cannot.

How Am I Feeling About Reading This Book: Excited? Now that I’m close to completing the second book, I remember what grabbed me about the first book. I’m not going to go into too much detail here, I’ll save that for the review, but it will be good to wrap this trilogy up. And unless things take a complete nosedive it should be a good read.
