Looking Ahead – City
This is going to serve as both a look ahead at City and a Rule Three review for Space Opera…because I put it down after about 20 minutes and don’t feel like devoting time to talking about the book. In summation, it was written by someone that thought The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was extremely clever (which it was) and thought that fitting even more of the most clever bits into a book would be a good idea (which it wasn’t).
Let’s jump in to the next look ahead where I’ll be updating you on the book I’m currently reading, and answering these questions about the next book on the list:
- Why did I buy this book?
- Why haven’t I read this book?
- How am I feeling about jumping in to this book?
Currently Reading: Space Opera by Catherynne M. Valente.
My Progress: Nope.
Up Next: City by Clifford D. Simak, purchased on 8/17/2019.
Why I Purchased This Book: How can you not with this synopsis: “This award-winning science fiction classic explores a far-future world inhabited by intelligent canines who pass down the tales of their human forefathers.” Intelligent canines? Yes, please!
Why I Haven’t Read This Book: It’s from 1952. If I’ve learned anything about myself it’s that older sci-fi doesn’t always resonate with me.
How Am I Feeling About Reading This Book: Again, old sci-fi misses me a lot…but this is about dogs!
