Looking Ahead – Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

By Dan Cristelli

Let’s jump in to the next look ahead where I’ll be updating you on the book I’m currently reading, and answering these questions about the next book on the list:

  1. Why did I buy this book?
  2. Why haven’t I read this book?
  3. How am I feeling about jumping in to this book?

Currently Reading: Origin by Dan Brown.

My Progress: Almost finished! It’s a quick read, and I was able to borrow the audiobook from the library to help supplement my reading.

Up Next: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick, purchased on 7/31/2018.

Why I Purchased This Book: This has long been regarded as one of the “must read” science-fiction novels of the past century, and was the inspiration for the film Blade Runner. For $1.99 it seemed like a no-brainer.

Why I Haven’t Read This Book: I have a weird relationship with “classics” or the “must-read” books. I know I should read them, but I’ve been burned so many times that I tend to avoid them. There’s a psychology at play where it makes me feel like less of a reader or something like that. Bizarre, I know.

How Am I Feeling About Reading This Book: It’s short, which is encouraging – sci-fi and fantasy from the 60’s had a tendency to drag on for the sake of dragging on.
